Why the new trim strips?
The "engineering types" that work for the manufacturer did their homework in 2008 or 2009 and redesigned a bunch of components for their coin op / tour edition table (Bumpers, Bearings, Handles, MEN and FIELD TRIM)... those super thin clear strips are the "real deal" and ordered direct from manufacturer... and they've been tried and tested on tour....
The new minimal field trims accomplish the "goal" of getting rid of "slightly sloped white field trims" that had the non-desired effect of bouncing the ball up off the surface on balls bouncing off the sidewalls. Combined with the new foot design - bank shots are more popular on tour now than they've been in quite a few years. In practice... if a ball is "between your man and the sidewall"... firmly PRESSING your man and ball against sidewall... then releasing that pressure should result in the ball falling off of the "ever so small edge" of the thin piece of tape - as the engineering guys ensured to the manufacturers.. and it actually works!
The white trim strip that runs along the base of the playfield. The trim strip is approx. 4 feet long. This trim strip was used on both Dynamo and Tornado models. NOTE: this is one of two needed per table! $15.00 |
